Immunocompetent patients develop a systemic disease and an eruptive phase.Cat-scratch disease is mainly a zoonosis. Infected humans will mostly develop a lumphocutaneous syndrome.Bacillary angiomatosis, which is analogous to the eruptive phase of Carrion disease, mostly occurs in immunosuppressed hosts, especially acquired immunodeficiency syndrome patients.Diagnosis often made by histologic examination or serology due to the difficulty in culturing these bacteria.
