AB EUS  of  the  abdominal  aorta  is  used  to  diagnose  or  exclude  an  abdominal  aortic  aneurysm  (AAA).  Although  the  sensitivity  of  abdominal  ultrasound  for  the  detection  of  aortic  dissection  is  limited,  the  presence  of  an  intra-aortic  flap  is  diagnostic  for  aortic  dissection.
