The  diagnosis  can  be  confirmed  with  an  appropriate  history  and  an  elevated  serum  amylase  or  lipase.  Management  is  conservative,  including  bowel  rest,  intravenous  fluids,  supplemental  nutrition  if  necessary,  and  analgesics.
