When  this  is  inadequate,  topical  sympathomimetics  and  various  nasal  tamponade  methods  are  usually  effective.Posterior,  bilateral,  or  large-volume  epistaxis  should  be  triaged  immediately  to  a  specialist  in  a  critical  care  setting.
