AB Glucose  is  an  obligate  metabolic  fuel  for  the  brain.  Hypoglycemia  should  be  considered  in  any  pt  with  confusion,  altered  level  of  consciousness,  or  seizures.  Counterregulatory  responses  to  hypoglycemia  include  insulin  suppression  and  the  release  of  catecholamines,  glucagon,  growth  hormone,  and  cortisol.
