Clinical procedures are an important component of medical student and resident training, and some are required for board and hospital certification. In these new Harrison's eChapters 54–64, video tutorials are presented for performing central venous catheter placement, thoracentesis, abdominal paracentesis, endotracheal intubation, phlebotomy, male and female urethral catheterization, breast biopsy, IV line insertion, thyroid aspiration, and arterial line insertion. These videos have been created specifically for Harrison's. Each includes the indications, contraindications, equipment, potential complications, and related patient safety considerations. Additional video tutorials covering clinical procedures such as arthrocentesis, bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture, pelvic examination, and basic suturing will become available in upcoming months to subscribers of Harrison's Online, AccessMedicine, and AccessPharmacy.
