The image was obtained using a 7.5-MHz vascular transducer. The transducer was in longitudinal orientation and placed perpendicular to the chest wall to scan through the second intercostal space in the midclavicular line. The resolution of the 7.5-MHz transducer is superior to that of the 3.5-MHz transducer, although depth of penetration is reduced (see also Chapter 79). Video available on AccessMedicine.com.
